Wedding Trends in 2017

I recently attended the annual Love Mexico Conference in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  Two of the key note speakers were “The Wedding Guys”.   It is their job (and they take it very seriously) to find inspiration and set wedding trends.  They gave us a sneak peek of what they’re expecting and planning for their brides in the coming year.

Cinematography –  Yes every detail of your special day will either be photographed or videoed.  Often times the videographer will be able to take footage from earlier in day and play it the your reception.

Craft cocktails – with each course

Flights – whether they be wine flights, tequila or cake.  Say good-bye to cupcakes and hello to cake flights.

Six styles you will be seeing:

Baroque Industrial-

Soft and romantic touches in the ball gowns and long sleeves are back.  Local beer, any element that is handmade.  Small/intimate lounge areas, hammered metals and tufted furniture.

Atomic Age-

Mid Century modern furniture with clean lines and geometric patterns.  1960s feel with lotus shapes, glass tops, white acrylic chairs with a martini feel.

Tranquil, calm with a spa feel.  Distress wood, stone finishes, lanterns, orchids, succulents and simple lanterns.

Hollywood Regency

Think of the glamour in the 1920s. Sleek, shiny and romantic. Chandeliers, black tables with gold and silvers being mixed together.  Large patterns utilized into different aspects such as isle runner.

Modern Lodge

Rugged and natural elements. Simple and not fussy.  Mini Cypress trees, antlers, benches and animals.  Pine cones as place holders.

Ex Libris

Formal and historical.  Think old university library with maps, globes, art, geometric patterns.  Book shelves with books all in the same color.  Rich fabrics and large sofas and lamps.

Just announced by the Pantone Institute (they call themselves the “global color autority” color of the year…

This yellow-green may make you think of the first day of spring and you will be seeing it EVERYWHERE!!

Just remember it’s YOUR wedding, take a small detail that resonates with you, blow it up and focus on what you want your wedding to feel and look like.
